The Dove Lodge Ladies Night was held on May 31st 2008 at the Hilton House Hotel. W/Bro Paul Barrass and Mrs Shirley Barrass welcomed 117 members and guests to this gala event. Friends from the Derby Magic Circle provided table magic and there was dancing after the meal provided by Blue Serge 2000. During the superb meal the traditional Ladies Song and the Roses Song were excellently performed by W/Bro J.R. Riley. People travelled to be at the event from as far as Japan and the USA. Over £1000 was raised for charities.
Ladies nights are a traditional way for Freemasons to say “Thank You”' to the ladies in their lives who help and support them in their membership. In Dove Lodge it is traditional that roses feature in the event and indeed on this occasion they were prominently featured during the evening. In recent years the principal lady (the Worshipful Master’s wife or partner) also chooses a theme that runs through the evening. As Mrs Shirley Barrass collects teddy bears they made their appearance as well.
