The Dove Lodge Banner

The Banner depicts a dove flying over the River Dove. The bridge over the river is a representation of the bridge that is thought by local Masonic historians to have led to the formation of the first Masonic lodge in Uttoxeter. It is interesting to note that the dove does not bear an olive branch and thus has no connection with the biblical dove sent out by Noah.

The two great pillars represent those at the entrance of King Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem. They are suppounted by terrestrial and celestial globes. This is said by many scholars to depict the universal nature of Freemasonry and Dove Lodge does indeed welcome all regular Freemasons from many parts of the world.
